Many people have put me on the path I am today. On this page, I'd like to give credit where credit is due.
Gary Webster - My uncle. From an early age he taught me all he knew about computers and the paranormal. He started the Kentucky UFO Investigator's League in 1982, and the training manual he made for his group is the basis of ARN's training manual. RIP July 2002.
Karen Bader - The technology coordinator at my elementary school. She started up an STLP program that taught me some of the basics of computer maintenance (on Apple's, of course). She allowed me to skip class to help her take care of the computer lab :-).
Sally Mills - My fifth grade teacher. Even though I was identified as being academically "gifted" years earlier, it wasn't until Mrs. Mills' class that I began to nourish those talents in subjects other than computers. She stayed after school to teach me more about the subjects I was most interested in. I've lost touch with her. The last time I saw her she was still teaching at Sixth District Elementary (which has changed much since I went there).
Dennis Pattinson - My seventh grade science teacher. As if his class wasn't awesome enough, he supported me when I started my junior high school website, the "UFO Underground" website and later NKYPYG. Above and beyond the call of duty, he took kids like me on field trips outside of the normal school hours to places like the zoo and NWS Spotter trainings. I've lost touch with him since he quit teaching - he was last seen working with an improv comedy group in Newport, KY.
Owen Huff - My ninth grade english teacher. His class taught us the best techniques to communicate our ideas through writing. Thanks to his class, I wrote the School Uniforms paper that led to my distinguished senior writing portfolio. He also helped us plan our protest against the uniforms. It was his idea for me to go to MIT and get a doctorate in Computer Science.
Kenny Young - Carol Bieber of Kentucky MUFON asked Kenny if he would drive me down to the state MUFON meeting in the summer of 2001. This was the start of Kenny's mentorship. He got me into the CPC so I could learn video production (apparently he really talked me up to them, because they knew I was coming, and have remembered me ever since) and then he taught me everything he knew about producing video, about investigating UFOs, and about life in general. You can find a paper I wrote about him in my writings section. RIP January 2005.
